Marie studied photography at St Cloud State, MN and in 1989 started professional photography. Shortly thereafter she joined the Professional Photographers of America (www.ppa.com). Marie photographed Seniors, Anniversaries, Weddings, Reunions and also did event cakes of any size or shape. Marie kept up on her education by attending MAIP every year in Iowa.
In 1995 Jim got the photography bug, wanting to photograph the local High School Hockey team, So I learned about film speeds, camera settings, lighting systems, flash systems and why the pictures were so dark. Once I nailed those problems, I regularly submitted photos to “Lets Play Hockey” a regional newspaper on the sport. Then while photographing snowmobile racing in Thief River Falls, I was asked to submit to snowmobile magazines. In 1997-98 I was a Nature and Wildlife photographer in Northern Minnesota and photographed the John Beargrease Dogsled race from Duluth – Grand Portage, MN. I followed and photographed from the trail and my Honda 300 fourtrax for 4 days and nights. Jamie Nelson won her fourth Beargrease that year. And while traking down Jamie Nelson, I took a wrong turn and met Marie, my wife. In 1999 I moved to Dayton, OH to attend OIP&T a two year Commercial Photgraphy School. At OIP&T I photographed food, drinks, cars & trucks Big and Small. Worked with Large, Medium formats and some 35 mm films. Processed all of own films Color, Black and White and E6 or Slide film.  While in Dayton, I worked for IMPACT Weekly, a local free paper wiith a weekly circulation of 50,000. In 2000, I was asked to photograph the Indy 500 in Indianapolis, and then again in 2001. After completing my time there in 2002, I joined Marie back in Northern Minnesota to take on Northern Minnesota and the World.
In 2003, Marie’s mother passed away, she was a Telephone Switchboard Supervisor for many, many years in Minnesota, her picture is on the Contact page of our web site. We converted her bedroom to the office from which I’m typing right now.
In 2006 we added a trailer to our equipment inventory so that we can better serve the needs of our customers and keep our house, garge, shed, bedroom free of Photographic clutter.
The trailer, holds ten backgrounds, three sets of lights, a computer workstation with remote power and a spot for an Epson 2200 printer. A Tabletop platform for On-Location Commercial Photography, a changing room for Senior Photography, 300′ feet of extension cords, a 4×6 ‘ soft box, 24″ monitor for Wedding and Event Photography. And best of all, it’s all located in ONE spot, Whew! no more hauling stuff back and forth every time we have a shoot.
